No Weigh-In Wednesday

I am going to be honest with you all. I was not even going to bother writing a blog today because I didn't weigh in. I didn't weigh in because my body is going nutso crazy on me and I am retaining water like a crazy person. I am retaining so much water I gained FOUR pounds in ONE day!  Yes, ONE day! I am pretty sure I know what happened and I have made the necessary changes so it won't happen again but there is no way I am counting today as a legit weigh-in. So, instead I am going to share some recipes I have found and tried lately that we have loved!

This is my husband's portion size, mine is a bit smaller!

Steak with Mixed mushroom Saute - From http://www.cleaneatingmag.com
I couldn't find my picture so this will have to do!

Blackened Chicken and Cilantro Lime Quinoa  - From http://www.sarcasticcooking.com

Again, my husband's portion size, I just have one slice!
Spanish Tortilla - From http://www.eatingwell.com

Hope you all had a great week!

Here is my latest video on the importance of having an accountability/success partner! I was inspired to shoot it last night after working out so excuse the bad lighting and the workout gear!

P90X3 Block 2 Review

Well we are in our second transition week on P90X3 so that means next week starts the final block of the classic schedule and it also means that it is time to give you all my review on the workouts we have been doing the last few weeks. I must say I am pretty sure I have a new favorite!

Okay, here is the breakdown:

Monday - Eccentric Upper - In this workout you are focusing solely on your upper body. I am proud to announce that after week 1 I knew I needed to get heavier weights and I already feel like I need to go up again for some of the moves! So, basically in this one you slow down the negative half of each work-out you curl up and then down slowly to the count of three, you pull-up and then go down slowly, etc. It is a great workout and you FEEL it the next day.

Tuesday - Triometrics - This one I like to describe as plyometrics times 10! You have three difficulty levels for each move simple squats, touch the floor, palm the floor etc! It is a leg heavy workout as any plyo exercise should be and again you will FEEL this the next day and for a few days after!

Wednesday - X3 Yoga - I am continuing to get better and better at Yoga and enjoy it a bit more each time!

Thursday - Eccentric Lower - Eccentric Lower is the same as Eccentric Upper but ALL lower body and with weights in your hands for many of the moves! Same concept slow down to the count of three in squat and then explode up, and repeat! The first week I thought I was going to die by the end because I still hurt from triometrics! But, just like Upper and Trio this is a great workout and you know it is working!

Friday - Incinerator - Another upper body workout (are you sensing a pattern here?) The description of this workout is that it is meant to burn you out, push you to failure. And that is one promise it follows through on for sure! In this one you do two moves back to back that work the same muscle group so that you wear it out before moving on to another (chest, shoulders, back, etc). The first week I did not like this one at all so I went out and got new weights and loved it once I had a more challenging weight!

Saturday - MMX - THIS IS MY NEW FAVORITE P90X3 WORKOUT!!!!!! This is a mixed martial arts program and it will push you to your limits! It was a nice change of pace in a weight and strength heavy block and I looked forward to it each and every week! Try this one, seriously, if you like martial arts at all you will love it and you will be dripping in sweat for sure!!!

Sunday - Dynamix - Like I have said before this is also an optional rest day but it is so worth taking the time to do this one. It stretches everything out after a long week of working each part of your body to the limit!

Overall I enjoyed this block and am excited to see what my numbers look like next week! I also tried out The 21 Day Fix - 10 Minute Abs a couple of times and let me tell you if the rest of the program is anything like those 10 minutes it really is going to be a game changer! In those 10 minutes you go non-stop on each area of your abs. There are no breaks, there is no mercy it is just 10 minutes of ab ripping wonder! I can't wait to see what the rest of the workouts look like!

Quick and Dirty

Okay, maybe not dirty but this will be a quick update today because I have about a million and one things going on today!

Very small loss this week but that is honestly what I expected after the HUGE loss last week! So, I was down .5 pounds this week which puts me at 171.7 and 90.5 pounds lost! I scheduled my day and a half off as my 90 pound reward for next Thursday and Friday and I can't wait to get some extra time with my little guy!

Speaking of the little guy he graduated to a big boy bed this weekend! Both a happy and a sad moment for this Mama! He has done great in it so far. The only time he has refused to stay in it is when he was home with just his Dad yesterday, then he thought it was a funny game to keep getting out of bed.

And, last but not least in case you missed it yesterday, I met a pretty big goal this week! Size 8 pants! Woot Woot!

How did you all do this week?

Overcoming Negativity

Throughout any weight loss journey you are going to encounter negativity. Sometimes it comes from within (I know I have certainly been there my fair share of times) and sometimes it comes from others.

When I was down on myself I had to take a moment and recognize what I was doing to myself and really work on seeing the positive in how far I had come. I had to learn to not compare my journey to any other persons journey because none of us are going to be 100% the same. We may all be reaching for the same end but the means we use to get there and the road we travel will certainly be different.

There are times that what others are saying isn't meant as a negative statement but we choose to take it that way and others that they are truly trying to tear you down. I unfortunately got a good taste of that over Christmas. The key is how you choose to react. I choose to let the negative comment push me harder. I was told I would never reach a certain goal because...well, because I just couldn't. It became my goal to show that person and myself that I am stronger than criticism, doubt, and negativity. That I can do what I set out to do as long as I really push myself! Look at how far I have come already, look at all the hurdles I have already successfully cleared. I am not stopping here, I am going to reach my goals. The old me would have let her statement win, the new me says, "Just you wait and see how much I am capable of."

So guess what? I met that goal she said I never would meet! This weekend I fit into single digit size pants for the FIRST time in my adult life! Yep, those pants down there? They are a size 8!!!!

One Pound At A Time

Or in the case of this week 3.3 pounds at a time! I guess I last week was a fluke since the very next day I weighed myself and was down much further than the .5 I came in at on Wednesday! Just goes to show that you can't count on the scale! Sooooooo, the big news of this week is that with this 3.3 pound loss I am at 90 pounds lost on the dot. NINETY pounds! Only 10 pounds from 100 and 22.2 from my goal of 112.2 lost! GAH I am SO excited! This means that as of today I am at 172.2 pounds. I am honestly having a hard time letting that sink in. When I started this journey I weighed 262.2 pounds being this small wasn't even on my radar. I figured if I could get under 200 I would be good, maybe even to 180. But now? No way! I am not stopping until I see my 150 or whatever my ideal weight will be around that weight!

Here is a little look back!

Top row is 2011, 2012, and early 2013. Bottom row is 2014, late 2013, and 2014!

ALSO, this means that I get to cash in my next reward which is a day off work! I have already asked for the last Thursday and Friday (because I only work half days on Friday already) of this month off! Cannot wait to enjoy some extra time with my little man!

How was your week?

    Owning My Story

I am sure I have talked on here before about when I realized just how overweight I was and how I still did nothing about it but I am going to share that story with you again because it is time for me to really own the start of my weight loss story.

I have been overweight pretty much my whole life. I remember the first time I had to buy a size 12 pair of jeans and how mortified I was at how much bigger I was than my friends. I spent many years doing one fad diet after another and each one would pass just as quickly as it came. I lost a bit of weight before my wedding in 2006 and really felt good about myself and my body for the first time in a long time, even though I was still overweight. After our wedding the weight came on fast. We were trying to have kids and after losses and failures and infertility treatments and surgeries I was the heaviest in my life in the summer of 2010 at over 260 pounds. In late 2010 we decided to pursue adoption and as we were going through the approval process our agency asked us to do a video for them about the home study process. We excitedly agreed and anxiously awaited that video to be edited and sent back to us. When it arrived I honestly did not recognize the woman on the video. I had NO idea I was THAT big. I remembered thinking the morning of the video that I looked pretty good, I was wearing an outfit I felt confident in and when I saw that video I cried. I never showed the video to anyone because of how embarrassed I was but what I saw. I knew I needed to make a change and worried that we would never be chosen as parents because of my weight.

Here is that video. Please be kind...this is not an easy thing to share and honestly I am sick right now just typing this knowing it is going online for all to see.

http://youtu.be/hdxIMHmYqKs (for some reason it won't let me put the video in)

In September 2011 we were blessed with our son through the miracle of adoption and thoughts of weight loss went to the back of my brain as I focused on this new precious life I had been entrusted with. His first birthday came around the next year and I was still huge and embarrassed to be in pictures with him. After that I started eating less (but not healthy) and lost a bit of weight. In late February 2013 I realized I was going to have to exercise if I had any hope of being the Mother my son deserved and losing all that weight. So, I started out doing C25K on my elliptical. I lost a little more but my eating was still way off, too often I would do my 30 minutes on the elliptical and then eat half a pizza for dinner because I was "too tired to cook". Eventually I knew C25K wasn't going to be enough for me so I started doing Zumba on our Kinect. I lost a little more with that and consistently tracked my (unhealthy) food and kept at my calorie goal day in and day out. I had a little more success.

Then in June 2013 I met a woman that introduced me to Les Mills Combat and the idea of clean eating. I did my research and at the end of the month bought Les Mills Combat and started doing it right away. In mid July my husband and I took our kids on a trip to Disneyland and when we came back it was on! We started eating clean and working out to Les Mills Combat by their calendar on July 22nd and never looked back. In those first 60 days we lost over 20 pounds each. About half way through those 60 days we also started drinking Shakeology and watched our fitness level kick it up an extra notch. At the end of Combat we decided to give Insanity a try. It pushed us to and past every limit we thought we had but we successfully completed those 9 weeks as well and had even more weight loss to show for it. Now we are on to P90X3 and seeing even greater results!

Beachbody, hard work, dedication, and support has been the combination that has changed my life and the lives of my family! It is my goal and pleasure to share it with all of those around me. I want more than anything to help everyone meet their goals, I never thought I would be under 180 pound and yet here I am and working toward 150! If I can do it, anyone can!

    The 21 Day Fix

I am seriously so excited about the new product that Beachbody has come out with! It has been so popular that they sold more in the first 8 hours it was than they expected to sell in the whole first week! It has out performed both P90X3 and T25! I think the biggest reason for this is that it is SO different from anything we have seen in the past!

I know that sometimes it can seem SO scary and SO overwhelming to commit to something that is supposed to get you results 90 Days from now. So this is a revolutionary program, a SIMPLE portion control solution to give you the foundation you need to teach you how to make that permanent lifestyle change!

The portion control containers allow you to stop counting calories, carbs, points, and measuring your food. You can have a glass of wine and have it fit in with your eating plan, you can fit in chocolate too. This is all because it is about portion control!

Comment below or message me if you want more details!

    Just Keep Swimming

Okay, it is Wednesday and that means it is time to weigh in again. I must admit I felt a little defeated staring at the scale this morning but I absolutely cannot let it get me down! I have to remember that I was sick last week and that last week was also a transition week so it was not cardio or weight intense. I must also remember that as I get closer to my goal weight, the rate that I am losing at is bound to slow down. I am going to give it another week and see if it kicks back up now that we are back into the swing of things and if not I may switch from the P90X3 Classic Calendar to Doubles. We shall see!

Enough of that, here are my stats for today! This morning I was at 175.5 which puts me at a .5 loss this week and 86.7 pounds gone forever! So, to make myself feel better I decided to do a comparison to see just how far I have come. Yesterday was day 30 of P90X3 so it was time to do measurements anyway! Here they are!

So, here are my numbers since officially starting my first Beachbody Program! I can't believe I have lost 41 inches! That is nutso!
And here are my overall totals! Unfortunately I do not have my highest measurements so I have to use my numbers from last May.

Make sure you stop back tomorrow! I have a post that was hard for me to write and will be hard to share but it is time to own my story from the very start.

Hope you all had a good week!
